Is this a ghostly aspiration rising from the depths of the evil back light hellbent on stealing the last remaining shattered remnants of a news photographers soul? Naw, It's Senator Leahy in a poorly exposed photo taken with my new Droid. I've spent many minutes, maybe hours following this man around over the past few years. Every time I get the chance to talk with him I am reminded of one thing. THIS.
When was the last time one of your Senators stood up to the Joker? That's what I thought, Never!
Gloating aside, I've peered through a viewfinder for hours with this man standing in that little screen. To me everything I shot today looked like this photo. I can't remember ever standing still, or focusing, or even hitting record. Yet after all was said and done I'd accomplished all the above and then some.
That got me thinking. Is there a such thing as a "photog trance?" Some higher level of brain function allowing rapid movement through a crowd and the ability to obtain proper shots? Something that allows you to ignore the sweat stinging your eyes, the glare of the evil secretary who you just pushed aside, and the pain of running backwards into a steel girder.
I'd like to think so. But I think the truth is more simple than that. I hadn't had any coffee and I probably just zoned out.
But how cool was the joker thing? I mean seriously. That's pretty cool.
