What the snow

It's late April, I shouldn't be dealing with this crap anymore! One month ago today(my birthday) it was in the 80's! I had to find my winter gloves again just to walk the dog. I blame the cold air Canada exports over the lakes.

A Hazardous day

2012-04-20_13
It's not every time you roll up to flashing lights that you find humor. This Sheriffs truck provided the comedic relief we all needed for the afternoon.

On a more serious note.... A couple folk got sick after opening a package. This red barn is where they were. The package contained a sulfur based fertalizer, but no one is sure if that's what caused the reactions.

While we waited for the Haz-mat truck to arrive I found a convienently placed bench. It had even been reserved just for us media kind.

The bench had a decent view of the scene. Right up until the Haz-mat guys rolled up.

That's when I decided to hit record and grab some space man B-roll. Dave stole my seat at this point to make some phone calls.

I need to find a pair of these awesome boots. Anyone know where I can get some?

While the Haz-mat guys figured everything out I had to wait. I decided to take in the view that Isle La Motte had to offer. If it weren't for that canadian wind being so damn cold, this would have been a more enjoyable view.

Something had happened at this barn and people got sick. It would take me a while to figure out what had happened.

I figured I would have an interesting afternoon when I saw this on the back of the sheriffs truck.

Breaks at breaking news

It's not every breaking news scene you get a bench to relax on. It's the little things that matter in life.

The inner workings

1687948454

I walked into a room full of corpses that had been meticulously dissected. It was 9am and I hadn't yet finished my morning coffee. A slightly unusual day for me to say the least. I finished the day off with a normal Sunday fundraiser. The people jumping in the lake just didn't look the same to me after seeing a corpse holding it's own skin as if it were a coat.

New

This blog has been sitting dark for quite a few weeks. I've been in a bit of a dry spell when it comes to writing and therefore my blog took a back seat to other things in my life. It was after a lot of inner dialogue...
"Should I keep the blog, delete it, reformat it, what should I do!?" that I decided what would be best is to integrate something I do everyday into something I wish I did everyday.
What I mean by all this is simple.
Everyday at work I shoot lots of video. While the camera is rolling I often pull out my Android phone or Nikon point and shoot, and snap a photo or two. I wanted a way to share that simply without having to worry about creating an elaborate story behind each photo.
At the same time I've grown less and less fond of Facebook taking ownership and copyrights of the photos I bust my ass to get. I still wanted to share the things I see on the job and wanted to continue my "On the Job" series of albums I've had going for the past three years.
All this came crashing down on me over the past week and I finally did something about it. Through some research I found Posterous which allows me to create "Spaces" which are essentially blogs. They can also serve as photo albums in the right format. It was and hopefully will continue to be a huge sigh of relief for me.
Through posterous I can link my Facebook, Twitter, and blogger accounts, so any Posterous post I make is auto-posted on those other accounts. This allows me to continue to share my photos with Family and friends on Facebook, though they will have to follow a link to a new site.
My blog will be updated with every new photo I upload, most will have at least a caption, some will have a behind the scenes story because let's face it, that's why I'm doing all this to begin with.
I really didn't want to end this blog and I decided I wont being do so anytime doon. For the most part my posts here will come via Posterous. If I feel the need to sit down and write up a story, I'll do so here and only here. For the one person who may have actually read this far, thanks. Thanks for reading.

And I'm deaf

The World record Cowbell Ensemble led by Jon Fishman of Phish. The event marked the 15th anniversary of the Ben & Jerrys Phish Food flavor, it was also a fundraiser. I managed to get a pretty awesome vantage point for the show. Unfortunatly, some of the shots required I stand infront(left ear ~6 inches away) of the amps, right at the crescendo of the song of course...
I still had a blast and got to see a world record get destroyed. A sea of cowbell is something quite impressive to see.
